Project Time Estimate Policy
At Novak Woodworks, we strive to provide accurate project time estimates based on our experience and current workload. However, please note that all time estimates are approximate and not guaranteed.
Due to the custom nature of our work, unforeseen challenges can arise during the production process that may cause delays. This includes but is not limited to material availability, design revisions, labor fluctuations, and the inherent complexities of handcrafted woodworking.
All delivery dates and timelines are subject to change without notice. While we make every effort to complete projects as efficiently as possible, deadlines may shift in order to maintain the quality standards we are known for.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to deliver a custom product that meets our high expectations — and yours.
Deposit Policy
All custom projects at Novak Woodworks require a deposit ranging from 20% to 50% of the total project cost. The exact deposit amount will be determined based on the scope, materials, and timeline of the individual project.
If a customer wishes to select a specific slab for their project, please be aware that there is a minimum 4-month search period to locate and secure the right piece. During this time, both Novak Woodworks and the client are expected to actively participate in the search process. If, after 4 months, a suitable slab has not been found and both parties have made a reasonable effort, the customer may request a refund of their deposit.
All deposits must be made online through our secure payment system. Work will not begin until the deposit has been received.
We appreciate your trust in our craftsmanship and look forward to creating something truly unique for you.
Delivery Policy
Delivery fees at Novak Woodworks are determined on a project-by-project basis and will be outlined in your project estimate. These fees are based on factors such as the size and weight of the item, distance to the delivery location, and any special handling requirements.
Delivery fees are subject to change if:
-
The delivery timeline is altered
-
There are obstructions at the delivery location, including stairs, narrow doorways, or other access limitations that require a moving team
-
The delivery address is changed from the one listed on the original order
-
The customer fails to disclose important delivery details that affect access or logistics
Please note that delivery dates are also subject to change due to weather conditions. We prioritize the safety of our delivery team and your custom piece, and will reschedule as needed in the event of unsafe travel or unloading conditions.
To avoid unexpected charges or delays, please ensure that all delivery information is accurate and complete when placing your order. For final delivery fees, refer to your project estimate or contact us directly.
We are committed to delivering your custom piece safely and efficiently, and appreciate your cooperation in helping us plan accordingly.
Communication Policy
At Novak Woodworks, we value clear and timely communication throughout the entire project process. We strive to keep clients informed at key milestones, but due to the hands-on nature of our custom work, we may not be able to provide frequent individual updates.
Please note the following:
-
We do our best to respond to emails and phone calls within 1–3 business days.
-
Customers are encouraged to contact us via email or our business phone number for any project-related communication.
-
Text messages, social media messages, or other informal channels (e.g., Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs) are not monitored regularly and may go unread.
-
Photo or video updates are not guaranteed for every stage of the build, but many of our projects are documented and shared on our YouTube channel.
-
Our focus is on building your piece with care and attention, which means we are often in the workshop and may have limited availability during the day.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we balance communication with craftsmanship. We're committed to delivering a great product and keeping you informed as best we can.
Epoxy Care & Repair Policy
At Novak Woodworks, we use high-quality epoxy resin to create beautiful and durable finishes. However, it's important to understand that epoxy is a type of plastic, and like any surface, it requires proper care to maintain its appearance and integrity.
Please keep in mind:
-
Epoxy can be damaged by excessive heat, sharp objects, harsh chemicals, or heavy impact.
-
To protect your piece, always use coasters, trivets, and gentle cleaning products.
-
Avoid placing hot pans, abrasive items, or solvents directly on epoxy surfaces.
Novak Woodworks is not responsible for any damage or incidents that occur after delivery due to misuse, neglect, or improper care.
All repair requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and any repairs are performed solely at our discretion. Additional costs may apply for approved repairs.
We want your piece to last for years to come and encourage you to follow proper care guidelines to keep it looking its best.
Hardwood Table Care Policy
At Novak Woodworks, we craft each hardwood table with attention to detail and lasting quality. With proper care, your table will serve your home for generations. However, wood is a natural material that responds to its environment, and it requires basic maintenance to preserve its beauty and structural integrity.
To ensure the longevity of your hardwood table, please follow these care guidelines:
-
Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Excess heat or UV exposure can cause fading, cracking, or warping.
-
Use coasters, placemats, and trivets. Always protect the surface from hot dishes, wet glasses, or rough objects.
-
Clean gently. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, all-purpose cleaners, or abrasives.
-
Maintain stable humidity. Wood expands and contracts with changes in humidity. A home environment between 35%–55% relative humidity is ideal.
-
Do not drag heavy items across the surface, and be mindful of sharp or rough objects.
Please Note:
Natural wear over time is expected. Minor movement, small cracks, or slight changes in finish are normal for solid wood and are not considered defects.
Novak Woodworks is not responsible for damage resulting from improper care, exposure to the elements, or failure to follow these guidelines.
We recommend occasional conditioning with a high-quality furniture polish or oil (for oil-based finishes only). If you are unsure about the appropriate products to use, feel free to contact us for recommendations.
Outdoor Furniture Policy
At Novak Woodworks, our outdoor furniture is built with quality materials and craftsmanship. However, exterior conditions can greatly impact the longevity and appearance of wood furniture placed outdoors.
Please review the following care and maintenance guidelines:
-
Direct sunlight exposure all day can significantly reduce the time before your furniture requires re-staining or refinishing. We recommend placing outdoor pieces in partially shaded areas whenever possible or using protective covers when not in use.
-
Our furniture is moisture-resistant but not waterproof.
-
Furniture should never sit in standing water, as this can lead to wood swelling, warping, or eventual failure.
-
Always place furniture on well-drained surfaces and avoid low-lying areas that collect water.
-
-
Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and reapplying protective finish, is essential to preserve your piece. The frequency of maintenance will depend on exposure to sun, rain, and humidity.
Please Note:
Novak Woodworks is not responsible for damage caused by prolonged water exposure, lack of maintenance, or placement in unsuitable outdoor environments.
With proper care, your outdoor furniture can age beautifully and last for many seasons. Contact us if you have questions about care products or refinishing services.
Return Policy
At Novak Woodworks, every piece is crafted with care and attention to detail. Due to the custom nature of our work, we have the following return policy in place:
-
All custom orders are final and non-returnable. This includes any items made to customer specifications such as size, wood type, epoxy color, finish, or design.
-
Premade items selected from available inventory may be eligible for return only at our discretion, especially if the customer chose a specific color or finish at the time of purchase.
-
All approved returns must be in original, unused condition, and the customer is responsible for return shipping or delivery fees, if applicable.
Please contact us directly if you have questions about your order. We will do our best to ensure your satisfaction, within the guidelines of this policy.
Scope Change Policy
At Novak Woodworks, all projects are quoted and scheduled based on the agreed-upon scope of work outlined in your estimate or invoice. If, upon delivery or installation, it is determined that additional work is required beyond the original agreement, additional fees will apply.
Examples of scope changes may include, but are not limited to:
-
Modifications to the space or site not disclosed beforehand
-
Structural adjustments or reinforcements
-
Additional installation labor due to unforeseen obstacles
-
Requests for added customization or alterations at the time of delivery
Any scope changes will be assessed on-site, and pricing will be discussed before additional work is performed. We do our best to plan ahead, but accurate and complete information from the client is essential to avoid delays and extra charges.
Thank you for understanding and helping us ensure a smooth delivery and installation process.
